WORLD CUP

From Overnewton to Russia… a world-class football experience with a powerful message

The 2018 Gazprom Football for Friendship (F4F) programme is transforming a FIFA World Cup dream into reality for Year 7 student Noah Borg who has been selected to fly to Russia to represent Australia at the F4F programme.

Noah will attend as a Young Journalist, joining other 12-year-old football players and journalists from 211 countries and regions to participate in the 8-day programme. One of the experiences includes a role in the opening ceremony of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and tickets to the Russia VS Saudi Arabia match.

Noah says: “The nine values of the programme - friendship, equality, fairness, health, peace, devotion, victory, traditions and honour - mean a lot to me. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what you can do, we are all equal and we should treat everyone the same and with respect.”

Overnewton College Head of Sport, Nikki Little, will also travel to Moscow as a member of the Australian delegation and media team. Nikki will have the opportunity to collaborate with over 2000 professional journalists from around the world to give these children an experience of a lifetime.

This opportunity arose because of the College’s close affiliation with Melbourne City Football Club and is example of how the programme delivers unique and unrivalled opportunities for our talented Overnewton students. To find out more about the Melbourne City College of Football Program click here
