OUR CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION
All members of the community are encouraged to grow spiritually. Our foundational belief is in Christianity and this binds our values together. As an Anglican school our values reflect the Anglican traditions.
RESPECT
We accept that all people are different. Everyone has the right to feel safe, supported and respected in his or her own right: their ideas, feelings, values, spaces, and opinions will be valued.
Individual differences will be celebrated and respected as a sign of the beauty of creation and a source of learning.
Each person is allowed to make mistakes, to be forgiven, to learn from those mistakes and move forward.
Each person has the right to equality of opportunity regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, cultural background or age.
COMMUNITY
We value and are proud to belong to the College Community and respect the College ethos and culture.
We aim to foster a sense of belonging by involving and valuing the whole College community and their contribution.
Each person has the opportunity to be fully informed on information relevant to him or her.
We support each other as we all strive for excellence; each person should constantly strive to improve and work to the best of their ability as key members of the Overnewton community.
By working together we know that more is achievable than when we work on our own.
We value goal setting and evaluation of their effectiveness as one of the pathways towards excellence.
We value honesty, openness, integrity, loyalty, confidentiality, trust and professionalism in all our interactions. These qualities are expected and will continue to be encouraged and developed.
ENVIRONMENT
We will look after and respect the environment.
Overnewton takes its environmental responsibility very seriously and has worked hard to reduce our carbon footprint through the significant installation of solar panels and an extensive tree planting program.
Students are encouraged, through the rubbish free lunch program, to reduce their environmental impact by using reusable containers for their lunch.
LEARNING
Students have the opportunity to be extended to their full potential in areas that inspire them and to be encouraged to enjoy, and be passionate for, learning and working with others.
A positive learning environment will be provided to encourage and support students in achieving their highest potential, and to foster the development of healthy self-esteem.
All students are treated with compassion and understanding; individual needs, personalities and skills are identified and nurtured.
Students will be treated fairly in terms of academic support, discipline and access to opportunities. Our students need to be given the opportunity to reflect on their behaviour and values; they are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions and develop their own integrity.
