Religious Studies

Year 5 and 6

Students build on their knowledge of God by studying God’s creation and care for all people. They explore the lives of biblical figures and other significant Christian people and communities through the ages. They focus on Jesus, his life and values, and our hope for the future. Students also prepare and present Chapel services throughout the year.

Year 7

Students study God’s communication with us through the life of Jesus, including the experience of grief and loss, and caring for others. They explore their own identity and their relationship with other people and the community around them. They learn to place their own experience in the context of the history of the world, and God’s relationship with his people in that history. Students also prepare and present Chapel services throughout the year.

Year 8

Students explore the meaning of human life, and how all are created in God’s image. They study religious belief, symbol and ritual, including prayer and worship, in Christianity and some other religious traditions. Students learn about Australian indigenous spirituality. They study ethics and values in the light of different religious insights and customs. Students also prepare and present Chapel services throughout the year.
