Working bees are regularly held at both campuses with the aim of maintaining and developing the school grounds and facilities. They are held on Saturdays commencing at 8.30am until 4.30pm. Parents are able to attend working bees held at either Keilor or Taylors Lakes campuses (or both). An additional working bee is held during the term holiday which prepares the school grounds for the start of each term. Hours are credited as part of the Family Contribution Scheme.

It is preferred that parents stay for the duration of the working bee however if this is not possible hours will be credited for actual hours worked.  Time of arrival and time of departure plus home telephone number and signature must be recorded on the sign-in sheet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

DO I NEED TO PRE-REGISTER?

No, not in the case of working bees . For all other work groups, yes. For working bees, simply turn up on the allocated day and sign in( please check the calendars for the correct dates and correct campus )

WHAT DO WE DO?

General weeding, paving, lawn moving and edge trimming, sweeping of pathways, window cleaning, classroom cleaning, general rubbish pick-up and bin cleaning, painting and line marking.

WHAT DO I NEED?

Suitable clothes and sun protection for the prevailing weather conditions, as most work is done outdoors.

Bring gloves for gardening, paving and / or painting.

If you have a flair for pruning, pack your favourite garden shears and discuss what area needs attention with a Co-ordinator.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

We don't expect you to work in the rain, but there are many jobs that can be done indoors / undercover until it clears.  The working bee will still go on.

MORNING / AFTERNOON TEA AND LUNCH.

Morning and afternoon tea are provided.  It is a chance to sit down with other parents and share a smile and a yarn.  Lunch is provided at a small cost of $5.

IF YOU HAVE A PARTICULAR SKILL OR TALENT, LET A CO-ORDINATOR KNOW SO THAT WE CAN MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR VALUABLE TIME (e.g. garden design, painting, paving, carpentry, welding.)
