Activate ~ years 7 to 12 sport

Overnewton is a member of the Association of Co-educational Schools (ACS). These schools share the common philosophy that every school activity is an educational experience. Sporting competition must be directed towards teaching teamwork, developing character and instilling high personal standards of behaviour. There should be limited interruptions to school time and school sport is not played on weekends, as this is family time and an opportunity to participate in community sport.

Some of the important components and objectives of the ACS are that maximum participation is achieved, that opportunities to learn new sports exist and the positive benefits of sports are taken into everyday life.

At Years 7 - 12 seasonal sport training and competition is offered in both summer (Terms 1 and 4) and winter (Terms 2 and 3). A comprehensive schedule of weekly round robin competition is offered in a variety of team sports including basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, soccer, softball, table tennis, tennis and volleyball. At the senior level, two mixed sports; badminton and touch rugby are also offered.

Swimming, cross country and athletics feature as major events on the College Sporting Calendar for students in Years 7 - 12. Specialist coaches and team managers ensure teams are best prepared for competition. Pennants are awarded at each year level and the top 20 individuals at each carnival are recognised.
