Ten years you're kidding right?
It was hard to imagine, but I'm afraid it was true.  It had actually been ten years since the "Class of 94" graduated from Overnewton! You all remember 1994...right?  Mariah Carey was top of the charts.  Heroin chic was the new black and Nudge from Hey Dad finally called it a day...I guess in hindsight it was probably best not to remember.  However, with that in mind, it was also the year the "Class of 94" actually left Overnewton for the big, bad world.  What had been going on since?  Who got married?  Who had kids?  Who was still the same old annoying twat?

All was answered at our Ten Year Reunion, held at De Biers Bar and Lounge on Saturday, October 23.

A great turnout saw roughly 60 people throughout the night share stories, swap tales and reminisce about the good old days: When teachers were a pain.  The school bell a prison like demand.  The boys played footy on the oval all lunchtime, and the girls watched with mock admiration.  Those were in fact the days.

It was great to see so many of our favorite teachers turn up to share in the celebration. If nothing more than to see how they have all aged just as much and as gracefully (?) as us.  Old friends caught up for the first time in ten years, danced the night away as if it were our Valedictory dinner, and laughed long into the early hours.  It was hard to think that it had been ten years, but it was not hard to re-ignite the friendships we enjoyed so long ago.  Throughout our years at Overnewton we formed some fantastic bonds and they were evident to all in attendance.  A great group of people to grow up together with, and as such a great group to spend an evening out on the town with, even ten years down the track.

A big thank you to Alicia Hewes, Brad Kewley, Trudi Spence and Ian Pasula for helping to organise the night.  A great time was had by all and we look forward to doing it all again sooner, rather than later.  Ten years was far too long.

Jonathan Simpson.
