Teenagers, Alcohol and Drugs

Paul Dillon has been working in the area of drug education for the past 25 years. Through his own business Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia (DARTA) he has been contracted by many organisations to give regular updates on current trends. He has also worked with many school communities to ensure that they have access to good quality information and best practice drug education. He has also written a best-selling book for parents titled Teenagers, Alcohol and Drugs released in 2009. With a broad knowledge of a range of content areas, Paul regularly appears in the media and is regarded as a key social commentator.
“The Talk Live” – Sexual Health and Ethics for Teens

Nelly Thomas has been described as one of Australia’s most natural and intelligent comedians. As well as being an award-winning performer, she was listed as one of Australia’s “most innovative thinkers” in The Age Newspaper’s - The Zone in 2011 and was recently featured on the ABC’s Big Ideas: The Smartest Stuff on TV, Radio and Online. In 2012, she released her first book What Women Want – part memoir, part manifesto – which canvasses the big issues of politics, education, sex, relationships, health, and family. Nelly continues to do live work in the community and government sectors, in particular, as a highly sought-after speaker, MC and producer of custom-made performances, specialising in social commentary and health promotion.

If Not Dieting, Then What

Dr Rick Kausman is a medical doctor who is recognised as the Australian pioneer of the person-centred approach to healthy weight management. His first book, If Not Dieting, Then What? was awarded Best Nutrition Writing, Australian Food Writers Award, 1999. Rick has been the Director of The Butterfly Foundation since 2006, and was awarded a lifelong Fellowship of OPATS in 2007. He has been a Fellow of the Australian College of Psychological Medicine since 2003, and is an Honorary Lecturer, Deakin University, Dietetics Department. Rick regularly speaks at corporate, medical, school and community group conferences and seminars, and he is the creator of the healthy weight management website www.ifnotdieting.com
Digital Dialogues

Digital Dialogues is a school-based program based on the Department of Education and Training’s Creating Conversations model. It has recently been developed by the College eSafe Committee and involves students facilitating a number of scenarios involving parents and using interactive strategies to raise and discuss cyber issues. It is aimed at enriching communication between parents and their children, to foster resilience, and to strengthen partnerships within communities.
