Middle School Curriculum

Middle School, from Years 5 to 8, will guide students through early adolescence and help them develop a sense of identity. It will provide innovative, creative and positive learning in a Christian environment.

Middle School students undertake the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Studies of Society and the Environment, Divinity, Physical Education, Music, Materials and Technology, Art, Graphics, Information Technology, Science, and German or Indonesian. Students also participate in sport and House activities.

The curriculum is designed to cater for the specific interests and needs of students at this stage of their development, incorporates a variety of learning styles and makes relevant links between Key Learning Areas.

The horizontal and vertical Pastoral Care system provides students with adult carers for a four-year period. The House system plays an important role in this provision of Pastoral Care as well as providing sporting, community and leadership opportunities.

Extra-curricular activities are offered to extend students in areas of ability and interest. These include Tournament of Minds, Chess Club, competitions in Science, Mathematics, Computers and English, Science Talent Search, Maths Talent Quest, Maths Challenge, Galway Debating, Choir and Band and the Middle School Musical.
