Learning Technologies
Technology plays an important role within our learning programs by enhancing learning through research, collaboration, and supporting students to become ethical and global digital citizens.
iPads and the use of Apple TV are integrated into various learning opportunities, which supports the fostering of creativity, critical thinking, sharing of experiences, and reflection.

YearS 5 & 6
iPad BYOD Program
Our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program ensures iPads are purposeful learning tools for Years 5 & 6, empowering students to take ownership of their learning. With access to relevant apps, they engage in interactive, personalised education that builds critical thinking and digital literacy. iPads also enable teachers to provide real-time feedback through digital assessments, enhancing student progress and equipping them with essential skills for lifelong learning.
Year 7 – Year 12
MacBooks
The College-leased MacBook program equips students with the digital skills needed for senior schooling and beyond.
MacBooks provide powerful creative tools for video editing, programming, graphic design, and CAD, expanding students’ technical capabilities. Exposure to multiple operating systems and software applications enhances digital literacy, while an intuitive interface supports efficient file storage and organisation.
Students receive guidance on device care, security, and responsible use, alongside training in file management and online storage to streamline learning.
Safe and Responsible Use of Technology
We understand that technology is a powerful tool for learning, and that it needs to be used safely. At Overnewton, all iPads operate under strong filters to protect students from inappropriate content. Although the filtering of inappropriate content is essential, our focus is not purely on blocking material, but rather, on assisting students to navigate technology responsibly.
We use these moments as learning opportunities, guiding students to make safe, respectful and informed choices online. We also provide clear guidelines for safe practices and share these with families to support ongoing conversations at home.
Together, we are committed to equipping our students with the digital skills and safety awareness necessary to navigate technology responsibly now and in the future.
