An Unforgettable New Zealand Adventure for Our Year 11 Students
Our Year 11 students recently returned from an unforgettable Overnewton Getaways adventure across New Zealand’s North Island, exploring Rotorua, Ruapehu, Taupo and Auckland. From black water rafting, caving and jetboating at Huka Falls, to skiing at Mount Whakapapa, the tour perfectly balanced exhilarating adventure with rich cultural immersion.
Students also discovered the geothermal wonders of Hells Gate, enjoyed a traditional hangi feast and kapa haka performance, and visited the iconic Hobbiton set from the movie The Lord of the Rings.
Beyond the incredible itinerary, many students said their favourite memories came from the simple moments such as trivia nights, card games, and laughter shared along the way, where genuine friendships and connections were formed.
Led by Acting Year 12 Leader, Sarah Incani, and a team of dedicated staff, this was truly a once in a lifetime experience.
We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
