Beautiful Carols and Heartfelt Giving at St Paul’s Cathedral
Every November our youngest students take part in the much-anticipated Junior School Carol Service at our home church, St Paul’s Cathedral in the Melbourne CBD. This cherished annual tradition is a highlight for many families, and it is always wonderful to see so many join us in celebration.
This year our students and staff were warmly welcomed by The Very Rev Dr Andreas Loewe, with College Chaplain Rev Peter Landry leading the service. Beautiful carols were shared by our Years 1–4 Choirs and the congregation, accompanied by Suzuki Strings, Stringlings, Junior Strings and the Orffestra.
A special moment in the service came when our Junior School SRC presented gifts for children to Anglicare, received by Rev Carmel Hunter from the Anglican Parish of St Luke’s Sydenham.
As the service drew to a close, we were blessed with a thoughtful reflection from the Right Rev Bishop Kate Prowd - a meaningful end to a truly memorable morning.
We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
