Celebrating the Heart of Our Community: Volunteer Appreciation Event
Overnewton was delighted to host its inaugural Community Engagement Program Volunteer Appreciation Event, an occasion dedicated to acknowledging the parents whose generosity and enthusiasm have helped shape the first year of this new initiative. Attended by P&F Committee members, members of the College CLT and selected volunteers, the event was a meaningful celebration of connection, gratitude and service.
Now in its first year, the Community Engagement Program has already made an incredible impact. Parents across both campuses have embraced the opportunity to be actively involved, with some contributing more than 60 hours of volunteer time over the past eight months alone. Their support has been felt across every corner of College life, assisting with camps, BBQs, Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls, excursions, art classes and countless other activities that enrich the experience of our students.
Throughout the event, College leaders expressed their heartfelt thanks, acknowledging the vital role that volunteers play in building a strong and supportive community. The dedication and goodwill shown by our volunteers embodies the very spirit of Overnewton, and their efforts have created lasting memories and meaningful connections for students, staff and families.
The College is deeply grateful for this extraordinary level of commitment and proud to celebrate everything our volunteers contribute. We look forward to continuing the growth of the Community Engagement Program in 2026 and beyond, with even more opportunities for families to be involved.
We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
