We are proud to share that Year 12 student and member of the 2026 Student Executive, Etienne, has been selected to represent Victoria at the 31st National Schools Constitutional Convention in Canberra this March.

Bringing together 113 Year 11 and 12 students from across Australia, the Convention gives young people the opportunity to explore and debate important constitutional questions, including whether Section 53 of the Constitution should be amended to prevent the Senate from blocking supply.

Held at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, the program will see Etienne engage with expert speakers, participate in national debate, and experience a unique program of events including a visit to Parliament House, a meeting with the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, at Government House, and a dinner at the National Press Club of Australia.

Congratulations to Etienne on this achievement. We wish her well as she takes part in this prestigious national event.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
