Inaugural Honourees Recognised as Music Recognition Board is Unveiled
At our Class of 2025 Dux Awards Assembly, College Head of Performing Arts, Carolyn Hernandez, proudly unveiled the Overnewton Music Recognition Board, a lasting tribute to students who achieve Grade 8 or higher in their chosen instrument. This board represents more than achievement. It reflects perseverance, commitment and the pursuit of excellence.
We are honoured to celebrate our inaugural recipients. Class of 2025 College Dux Nathan Yuan earned his place through the prestigious L.Mus.A qualification in Violin, a significant and highly respected milestone. He is joined by Year 8 student Phoenix Gill, who has achieved Grade 8 Piano, reflecting both talent and dedication.
Importantly, this recognition sits within a thriving Performing Arts culture at the College. This term we welcomed our 500th student enrolled in instrumental or vocal tuition, a milestone that speaks to both the strength and breadth of our program, and to the passion and expert guidance of our Performing Arts team.
We look forward to seeing this board grow as more students pursue musical excellence.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
