Junior School Celebration of Learning Events Welcome Record Family Participation
This week, the Junior School proudly hosted two Celebration of Learning events, welcoming families into classrooms to celebrate the growth, achievements and learning journeys of students across Prep to Year 4.
Across both events, students enthusiastically shared their classrooms, workbooks, drawings, learning tasks and achievements with the special people in their lives. There were smiles all round as families explored displays of student work and engaged in meaningful conversations about learning.
Prep, Year 2 and Year 3 students reflected on their progress so far this year with great pride, while Year 1 and Year 4 students confidently guided their guests through work samples and classroom activities, thoughtfully explaining the purpose behind their learning, how they approached challenges and the progress they have made.
It was particularly impressive to see students speaking so confidently about their learning journeys and demonstrating their growing ability to reflect on their strengths, challenges and next steps.
These Celebration of Learning events saw the greatest parent involvement to date, with classrooms overflowing with families across both campuses. The strong sense of connection, engagement and pride on display made for a wonderful celebration of the reflective, capable and confident learners being nurtured throughout our Junior School.
We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
