National Honour for Year 9 Student Tom at Pan Pacific Ice Hockey Series

Oct 24, 2025 4:21 AM

Congratulations to Year 9 student Tom who was recently selected to represent Australia in the inaugural IHA Youth Pan Pacific Ice Hockey Series, an incredible honour and a testament to his talent and dedication on the ice.

Tom earned his place in the green and gold following an outstanding performance at the Kurt DeFris U15 National Tournament in Perth earlier this year, where he was voted MVP for Victoria.

The inaugural Pan Pacific tournament brought together talented young players from Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. Tom competed as a right-sided defender for Australia Gold, one of two national teams, who advanced all the way to the gold medal match against Hong Kong.

It was a fast, fiercely contested final that showcased teamwork, skill and determination. While the Australian side went down 5–2, Tom’s performance throughout the tournament was exceptional.

We are incredibly proud of Tom’s achievement and can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next in his ice hockey journey.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
