Year 12 Dancer Giselle Accepted into WAAPA’s Elite Performance Program

Nov 14, 2025 4:36 AM

We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of Year 12 student, Giselle, who has been offered a place in the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) for 2026.

Giselle has been dedicated to dance from the age of three, exploring a wide range of styles throughout her training. She has developed strong foundations in Classical Ballet under the guidance of Miss Angela Hill at May Downs Dancing School, while also discovering a passion for choreography during her time at The Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School and through her VCE Dance studies at Overnewton.

Her talent and commitment were further recognised this year when she was selected to perform in Top Class Dance 2025 at the Melbourne Recital Centre. This was an exceptional accomplishment that highlights her artistry and hard work.

Giselle is excited to continue her training at WAAPA next year, with aspirations to perform in musicals and cabaret productions, and to one day mentor and inspire future dancers through teaching and choreography.

We congratulate Giselle on this outstanding opportunity and look forward to seeing where her dedication and talent lead her next.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
