Overnewton Student Finalist in Sustainability Photography Competition
Congratulations to Year 5 student, Zara, who has been named a finalist in the Sustainability Through Your Own Lens photography competition.
This national competition invites students to express their creativity through photography and written reflection, exploring this year’s theme, ‘Building a climate-ready future’. The theme encourages young people to consider how communities, nature, and the spaces we share are adapting to the challenges of climate change.
Zara’s inspiring photo, titled 'Working as a team to build a climate-ready future', was entered in the Middle Years category and beautifully captures the Maribyrnong River Valley on which Overnewton's Yirramboi Campus resides, plus the spirit of collaboration and hope for a more sustainable world.
We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
