Outdoor Education (Camps)
Our Camping and Outdoor Education program plays an important role in nurturing confidence, resilience and independence in Junior School students. Through meaningful experiences beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, connect with peers and teachers, and engage with the natural world.
Camps are a compulsory part of the Junior School experience at Overnewton, designed to support each child’s personal growth and sense of adventure. We understand that for some students, spending time away from family can be a big step. Our staff work closely with families to help prepare and support all students to feel confident and ready to embrace these opportunities.
Beginning with simple day excursions and building up to overnight stays, students from Prep to Year 4 take part in age-appropriate outdoor activities that promote collaboration, problem-solving and connection through learning in the natural world. These experiences also support physical wellbeing, environmental awareness and personal development.
Junior School Camp Program
Overnewton’s camp journey begins in Year 2 with a two-day, one-night stay at Mt Evelyn Recreation Camp. In Year 3, students head ton the Campaspe Downs camp in Kyneton for three days and two nights, and in Year 4 they finish their Junior School years with a final camp at Camp Manyung in Mt Eliza. Each camp is thoughtfully planned to be safe, inclusive and memorable, supporting students to build skills and confidence that will serve them well both at school and beyond.
