Transition to Junior School

Starting Strong at Overnewton

Our transition activities are designed to help your child feel confident and supported as they settle into life at Overnewton. Through a series of engaging sessions and opportunities to connect, each step builds a sense of belonging and familiarity. This page outlines what to expect and key dates to help your family prepare.

Transition Activities

Step Up Day - Monday 8 December

All students, both new and current, take part in Step Up Day. It’s a chance to meet their new Home Group teacher and classmates, enjoy team-building activities, and become familiar with their new surroundings.

Start of Year Orientation

When the school year begins, we dedicate the first few days to orientation. Students participate in Pastoral Care sessions within their home groups, attend welcome assemblies, and join in various fun activities to help them feel at home.

Ongoing Support

Transition doesn’t stop there. Our peer buddy program and lunchtime clubs help new students settle in, make friends and feel part of the Overnewton community.
