Wellbeing

At Overnewton, we are committed to fostering a community where every individual matters and can thrive. We aim to equip and inspire each student to serve their communities and make a positive impact, leading lives of value with heart and integrity.

Wellbeing is dynamic and requires a holistic approach. We understand that true excellence in education emerges when consideration of wellbeing is interwoven with all we do. Wellbeing at Overnewton is guided by our Christian values, our College Values and wellbeing science to target the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social development of students.

Every student has dedicated points of contact for wellbeing and academic support. From Prep to Year 9, Home Group Teachers provide continuity and personalised care. In the Senior School, House Mentors and Year Level Leaders work together to guide students through this important stage of their journey. Each school is further supported by the Head of School and Deputy Head(s) of School.

Teaching and administrative staff across the College strengthen and expand this circle of support. School Counsellors provide expert guidance to students, families, and staff, collaborating with external professionals where needed. Campus Nurses deliver essential first aid and health education. Heads of Campus, Director of Wellbeing and College Chaplain support student welfare and pastoral care and guide our strategic directions.

Our approach recognises that wellbeing flourishes when all community members both receive support and learn to support others. By establishing wellbeing as our foundation, we create a community of collective growth.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
