Performing Arts

The Junior School years mark the beginning of an exciting journey, where students explore new ideas, discover their interests and start to build their confidence in music.

At Overnewton, our youngest learners are encouraged to develop their emerging skills through individual music lessons and to experience the joy of shared music-making in our Co Curricular Ensembles and Choirs. These opportunities nurture foundational technique, creativity and a sense of belonging. Through performance, our youngest musicians take their first steps into the rich tradition of the Performing Arts, celebrating growth, creativity and a growing sense of confidence.

Ensembles

Junior School students have the chance to be part of a dynamic range of Co Curricular music groups. For those learning an instrument, our ensembles offer the perfect stage to build confidence, sharpen skills and experience the thrill of performing with others. And for students who simply love to sing, our choirs are open to everyone - no instrument required - making them a wonderful way to connect, express and share the joy of music.

Ensembles include:

  • Year 1 Choir

  • Year 2 Choir

  • Year 3 & 4 Choir

  • Suzuki Strings

  • Stringlings

  • Junior Strings

  • Orffestra
