Year 7 & 8 Sport
ACS
Overnewton is a proud member of the Association of Co-educational Schools (ACS) Sports Association. Member schools include Loyola College, St Leonard’s College, St Michael’s Grammar School, Westbourne Grammar School, St Aloysius College and our newest member, Aitken College.
Each week students will train or play a fixtured match within the ACS competition under the guidance of Overnewton staff and coaches. All match fixtures can be accessed by the links below. You will need to filter for your child’s Sport and Grade. (Please note the ACS App from previous years is no longer in use.)
Year 7 students play on Tuesdays and Year 8 students play on Thursdays.
A Sports logistics outline will be posted on the relevant Compass Newsfeed weekly. The outline contains detailed information about matches, transport arrangements, times and venues.
Weekly Sport Commitment
It is a College expectation that students fulfil their commitment to the compulsory weekly sport program through Years 7 to 11.
- Families are asked to refrain from making appointments or scheduling any other commitments during this time. Notifications regarding unavoidable appointments/commitments need to be provided to the College Head of Sport by 10am on their designated Sport Day.
Students who have an unexplained absence from ACS may incur an extended school day or lunchtime reflection unless a medical certificate can be provided.
Families must ensure arrangements are made for students to travel home as access to School Chartered Buses will not be possible on ACS match days. This is due to students returning to Yirramboi Campus anywhere up to 5.30pm on match days.
Families are encouraged to use the fixtures link above to plan out the season dates to avoid any clashes with outside school commitments.
Parent Collection from Training and Match Venues
Parents who wish to collect their child directly from a training or match venue must first complete the ACS Sport Student Venue Collection Application via the link below.
On the day of collection, parents must be visible to staff and have their name recorded by the coach in charge. To allow time for the sign-out process, please arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled bus departure.
Please note that teams and coaches are unable to wait for late arrivals. Any students not signed out will return to Yirramboi Campus in accordance with the published bus schedule.
Uniform and Equipment
On ACS Sport days students must wear their College Physical Education uniform to and from school. They are encouraged to apply sunscreen for outdoor activities, wear their College cap and bring a water bottle to all sessions. The College supplies appropriate sport equipment for each team.
Competitive Sportswear Range
The Competitive Sportswear Range has been developed to support students representing Overnewton in ACS Sport, the Year 5 and 6 Sport Program, and the College’s Premier Sports teams in Athletics and Cross Country.
The range has been developed to provide students participating in competitive and representative sporting programs with apparel designed for performance, comfort and team identity.
The Competitive Sports Range is available through Uniform Group, located at 451–453 Keilor Road, Niddrie.
The Competitive Sportswear Range sits alongside the College Physical Education uniform and is worn by students for competitive teams or selected sporting programs where a distinct performance uniform supports both team representation and the expectations of interschool competition.
ACS Premier Sports Teams
At the completion of House Carnivals, students will be talent identified from their performance data, to join the relevant Overnewton Premier Squad. Overnewton Premier Squads train before school for a minimum of 10 sessions across the ACS Championships preparation period. The Overnewton Premier Team will be made up of Squad members and will compete in the ACS Premier Sports Championships.
Talented Player Programs
Overnewton is proud to be the first football partner school of Melbourne Victory Football Club, offering students an unparalleled opportunity to combine academic excellence with elite sporting pathways. Through access to professional coaching, high-performance training, and exclusive A-League experiences, students refine their technical skills, tactical understanding, and love for the game.
Beyond the pitch, the program fosters qualities of resilience, leadership, and teamwork, equipping students to thrive both in football and in life.
House Carnivals
House carnivals provide an opportunity for all students to participate in events across the four Premier Sports (Swimming, Athletics, Chess, and Cross Country).
It is another way in which students can connect, try something new and represent their House with pride.
