Parents & Friends Association

Stronger together, for every student

The Parents & Friends Association brings our school community to life, partnering with the College to shape an environment where students thrive and families feel truly connected.

Parents & Friends Association

The Parents & Friends Association is central to the spirit of community that defines Overnewton. Through its efforts, the Association demonstrates the collective power of parents working together to enrich the educational experience of every student, ensuring a strong and connected future for the College

Our parent community plays an integral role in shaping the daily life and long-term vision of the College. This partnership is rooted in the College’s foundation, with the Articles of Association designed to give parents a meaningful voice and the opportunity to actively contribute to the College’s growth and success.

The Parents & Friends Association reflects this unique collaboration, supporting the College in a variety of ways via responsibilities that include (but are not limited to)

  • Advocating for and supporting the College’s aims and objectives, as defined by the Board.
  • Assisting in the development and enrichment of the College’s programs, facilities, and community activities.
  • Raising funds to enhance amenities, provide bursaries, and support extracurricular initiatives in collaboration with the College administration.
  • Coordinating Parent Work Groups, Support Teams, and auxiliaries under the direction of the Principal.
  • Serving as a representative body for parents and friends, fostering engagement and communication.
  • Acting as a channel for parent representation to the Board through the Association Chairperson.

In Action: Our Parent Community

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
