Focus Week Program & Excursions
Focus Week Program
During Focus Weeks, the regular timetable is paused and students rotate through five distinct, week-long learning units - hence the name Focus Week. Throughout each Focus Week, students dedicate their core learning time to a single area of focus, allowing them to explore a specific challenge in depth.
Each program is intentionally designed to address the developmental needs of Year 9 students through relevant, engaging learning experiences that build essential life skills. Students collaborate, think creatively, solve problems and develop products for an authentic purpose and audience.
While offering a distinctive and immersive learning experience, Focus Weeks also align with and support the core outcomes of the regular Year 9 program, reinforcing and extending everyday learning.

Excursions
As part of the Focus Week program and certain core subjects, students will participate in a variety of excursions. Parental consent for excursions occurs through the annual College Consent process.
These excursions will involve travel using the public transport system. As students participate in these excursions it is our expectation that they will become more independent and confident in using Melbourne’s public transport system, as well as reducing our environmental impact.
To use public transport, students will require a Youth myki card.

Public Transport
From January 1, 2026, public transport will be free for all Victorians aged 17 and under, by using the new Youth mkyi card. This applies to metropolitan and regional public transport, including trains, trams, and buses.
For students aged 17 and under:
- Free travel: You can travel for free on all Victorian Public Transport (trains, trams, and buses).
- Access: Every student will need a special Youth myki card to access free travel on public transport.
- Cost: The initial Youth myki card costs $5 and, once purchased, it will unlock free travel on all public transport. This can be purchased from metro train stations, myki vending machines, 7 Eleven stores, or online at the Public Transport Victoria website.
