Record Old Collegian Return Inspires the Next Generation at Careers Expo
Overnewton's annual Careers Expo provided students and families with invaluable opportunities to explore future pathways, connect with industry professionals and gain insights into the rapidly evolving world of work.
A particular highlight was welcoming a record 35 Old Collegians back to Overnewton to share their educational and professional journeys. Their willingness to return and support the next generation reflects the enduring strength of our College community and the impact of an Overnewton education beyond graduation.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the parents who generously shared their expertise through our industry breakout sessions:
• Saranya Nagarajan, nbn Australia – Artificial Intelligence: Building the Future
• Miriam Scerri, EY – People and Performance in a Big Four Firm
• Dr Cengiz Cimenkaya, Director of Cardiology, Werribee Mercy Hospital – Medicine Through My Eyes T
The College is deeply grateful to all exhibitors, presenters and tertiary representatives who contributed their time and knowledge, helping students explore possibilities, challenge assumptions and make more informed decisions about their future.
Congratulations also to our Careers Team on the outstanding planning and delivery of this significant event.
We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
