Year 10 Student Crowned National Champion at Australian Athletics Championships
Congratulations to Year 10 student Owen on his exceptional performance at the 2026 Australian Athletics Junior Championships. Competing against some of the country’s best young athletes, Owen delivered outstanding results in both of his events.
Owen claimed Silver in the 200m, showcasing impressive speed and composure in a highly competitive field, before producing a remarkable performance in the 400m to take Gold and earn the title of National Champion. In the process, he also shattered his personal best time by almost two seconds in the final.
Representing at a national level is a remarkable accomplishment, and Owen should be incredibly proud of his achievements. We look forward to following his future success in athletics.
We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
