Headshot of Year 9 middle secondary school-aged student Sahana selected for the sheCommerce program at the University of Melbourne.

We are delighted to congratulate Year 9 student Sahana on her selection into the highly regarded sheCommerce program at University of Melbourne.

Now in its fourth year, the sheCommerce program supports female-identifying and non-binary students in Years 9–12 to explore future pathways in commerce, business and leadership. The program offers participants valuable insights into university study and career opportunities, while fostering confidence, curiosity and ambition.

This year’s intake was particularly competitive, with more than 600 applications received for just 125 places. Sahana’s selection is a testament to the strength of her application, as well as her passion and enthusiasm for future opportunities in the field of commerce.

Over the next four years, Sahana will take part in a range of experiences designed to inspire and support the next generation of business leaders. We look forward to following her journey and wish her every success in the program.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
