Mathematics

Our Middle School Mathematics program uses a flexible grouping model to ensure every student is appropriately supported and appropriately challenged, positioning them to reach their full potential.

Students are grouped according to whether they are working towards, at, or beyond the expected level for their year.

  • Students working towards the standard learn in smaller groups, with targeted support to help bridge gaps and build confidence.
  • Students working beyond the standard engage in carefully selected enrichment opportunities, extending their mathematical thinking through complex problem-solving and reasoning.

Importantly, all students access the full Mathematics curriculum for their year level. Grouping does not remove content; rather, it adjusts the level of support and challenge to meet each student’s needs.

Student progress is reviewed regularly at the end of each unit and semester, with groupings adjusted throughout the year to ensure every student is receiving the right instruction at the right time.
